Covid-19 Saliva Detection Initiative

MIssion

Develop a rapid and non-invasive method for COVID-19 detection and monitoring using patient saliva.

Objectives

  • Develop Saliva EFIRM Assays to detect: 1) COVID-19 RNA (infection), 2) COVID-19 anti-S1 antibody (IgG, IgM and IgA) and 3) viral load. 

  • Validate saliva collection that allows concurrent stabilization of COVID-19 RNA, viral antigen and host immunoglobulins.

  • Performance comparison of COVID-19 RNA and host immunity in saliva vs blood vs nasopharyngeal (NP) swab and clinical detection technologies EFIRM vs ddPCR vs ELISA.
